weekend wanderings

Hey friends! Happy weekend to you! Just writing to pass on some noteworthy things for your weekend-perusing, reading, relaxing, etc…

1) Do you listen to “All Sons & Daughters”? I love their music and have been moved by their worshipful sound and lyrics. Check out great albums “Season One” and “Brokenness Aside” plus brand new EP “The Longing”…here is a sample via youtube:

2) Earlier this week I read this article: “Songs to Soften”. Her thoughts on worship music in the day-to-day – and her whole blog – so inspiring and true.

3) “Applying the gospel to the mundane” is the aim of this blog“Glimpses of Grace in Homemaking” was just the challenge and encouragement and re-focus on Christ that I needed today.

Here is a portion that I need to print and re-read every day:

The joy of an artfully-decorated cake is short-lived. The dust eventually settles on an idyllic living room. The elements of our home that bring us delight are good things, but they are only created things. They are shadows, reflections, glory-refractors, if you will. Look closely– focus– with the eyes of your heart. Do you see the glimpses of God’s grace? Your work is a gift… that means that above all joys the highest joy to be enjoyed is the Giver.

And he is worthy of your worship this hour and every hour.

In the Lord’s presence there is joy with a magnitude and endurance that our finite minds can hardly fathom because it’s full and it’s forever.

When our work in the home is unto the Lord, through the Lord, and for the Lord, we find that he does not fail to satisfy us. And when our hearts struggle to feel this is true, we declare by faith, “Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you” (Ps. 73:25).

4) And, on a much lighter note, I think I am going to take a break from the overwhelming flood of work, homework, housework and do a little crafting and try my had at these sweet hair bows…has anyone made some?

Here’s to roasting butternut squash, hot tea & warm socks and going deeper with the Lord this weekend…

  1. Love this it is just what I needed. Life of the mundane mother. Love you thanks for your inspiring thoughts.

  2. “When our work in the home is unto the Lord, through the Lord, and for the Lord, we find that he does not fail to satisfy us. ”

So grateful for a mother who taught this but ever needing the reminder. Thank you, Jordan. 🙂
