Refreshment & Sabbatical Time

For the last month and until our baby boy comes, we have been taking a break from Facebook and spending more time doing other things (you may remember I explained thoughts regarding this decision here).

Well, interestingly enough, at about the same time, Nels’ sister Nora and her family were taking even more dramatic steps towards peace and refreshment at their house (more dramatic than quitting Facebook for a time?! is it possible?! 🙂 ha!). Last week she and two of her six children had a couple hours’ layover between flights here in Kansas City and Kaya and I got to enjoy the afternoon with them. It was a joy to see them and hear about their month-long sabbatical as a family. Nora wrote a bit about it for the PWOC blog, and you can read it here.

I wonder what kind of steps God may be calling you to for the sake of your family and your own soul? What, if any, changes need to be made for more peace, joy and unity in your home?

May God bless you as you seek to follow Him and put Him first in your hearts, lives and homes!

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

  1. Jordan,
It was great to read about the practical steps you have taken to quiet your soul. Thank you much for forwarding the link to my Sabbatical article for others to have the chance to read! The same Spirit speaks the same thing, so it was interesting to hear how the Lord has spoken to you and Nels about taking time to, “Be still and know…”. Loved the sweet pictures of our little “story book” visit. Your home is lovely and your garden a delight!
