Turning One

Ohmyword.

So this week, on Wednesday, Kaya turned 1.

I don’t even know what to say…

I mean really. And that almost never happens.

Its been an incredibly emotional week and I am so thankful for this first year of her life. She’s awesome, God has blessed us so much through having her, she’s growing up beautiful and strong…and we had her first birthday party this weekend with my family. {Perhaps first and only – I’m pooped!}

So without further sobbing and rambling and such…here’s a few photos of her birthday party.

We had a “Winter One-derland” theme for our January baby girl…

She was feeling really terrible that day and had a terrible fever later that night, but she was a trooper for the party anyway and was really happy to see her Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie, Uncle and Great Grandma!

Daddy helped blow up tons of balloons and even vacuumed the house and cut out some snowflakes, Mommy came up with some games and prepared the food, Grandma brought pretty crystal candlesticks and a punch bowl (for this yummy stuff) and we had a fantastic time.

We played some fun games…

Uncle Sam even won some Starbucks $$…

In spite of feeling a bit unwell, she still managed to handle her cake πŸ˜‰

And to share some with daddy and grandpa.

Although I think her face in the picture below pretty much sums up how my poor girl was feeling :(…

She did, however, end up with some great loot that she was quite pleased with…

She loves pretty clothes almost as much as her mommy does. πŸ™‚

And while the adults hung around and talked and ate for a while, little Kaya went down for a nap, but not before some kisses…

And now we are left with the remains of our baby girls party…

Snowflakes, streamers, lights and buttercream “its a girl” mints…

I should take them down tonight and get the house organized with school starting this week and everything…but it sort of feels like the last little mementos of her being a baby…

So I think I’ll keep it out for a bit.

We’ll see. πŸ™‚

Thank you, Lord! An amazing first year. Amazing growth – in her, in us. I feel braver and stronger having this first year under my belt, not because of any incredible skill or accomplishment of mine, but because You sustained us through some of my worst fears. If God is for us, who can be against us? Amen! Amen! Thank you for my beautiful daughter.
