Mmmm…I LOVEEE Valentine’s Day! Our baby’s dedication service was on Valentine’s Day this year (sooo so special!) so it was a very busy weekend for us. We ended up celebrating a few days late with chocolate, a little scavenger hunt, Olive Garden dinner and our first night out with the baby at Grandma’s house! Oh, and did I mention 2 dozen beautiful roses?! It was absolutely wonderful.
As I was preparing a few little gifts and things for my sweet valentine, I came across this brilliant poem that is now a favorite of mine (although I think the closing line is a little weak lol)! Hope you enjoy…:)
To My Dear and Loving Husband [by Anne Bradstreet]
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee.
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me, ye women, if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay.
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let’s so persevere
That when we live no more, we may live ever.
Happy Valentine’s Day! …a tad late. 🙂
